Collapsed Wall Pieces
‘Tens of thousands of hand-made porcelain shards work together to create a surface that feels organic and alive. This surface is eating into a geometric form, creating pieces of art that are both fragile and monumental.’
Our collapsed wall pieces are bespoke designs, made to be sited in specific places. They can work as centrepieces in a room, or nestled into corners, waiting to be discovered. Like all of Olivia’s work, the focus is on the porcelain. Each handmade shard is individually placed to create the sense of movement. The texture and colour of this is matched to the tadelakt lime plaster, which has the soft matt quality, as well as the subtle variation and finish, of limestone.
These pieces typically hang on a simple plywood bracket and spacer, to create a slight shadow gap. Other fittings are possible if the context demands it.
Commissioning a Wall Piece:
We welcome enquiries for commissions of our collapsed wall pieces and enjoy working with a range of different clients and designers, making bespoke pieces for our clients’ homes. The commissioning process involves a conversation with the client in which we discuss the space where the piece would hang, helping us to work up a proposal that details the dimensions, number of panels, colour and design of the piece, accompanied by sketches and samples.
Our wall pieces can be made as individual panels, or as multiple panels that have a porcelain flow running over and connecting them. In this way they can be made at a large scale, and shipped internationally using an art shipper.
We have a small collection of both wall pieces and vessels at Vessel Gallery in Notting Hill, London. Click here for information about visiting the gallery.
